In the economy based on knowledge and innovation, continuing education and nonformal ways of learning and professional improvement prefer learning through practical experience. This idea is supported by innovative solutions such as modular training curricula that help in the performance of professional tasks. One way to increase the effectiveness of education and training is to provide access to interactive courses to improve competences. Therefore, the objectives of the project "Supporting system for nonformal and informal learning for low-skilled workers" focus on the transfer of innovation in the following areas:
Continuing education and nonformal forms of learning and professional improvement prefer learning through practical experience. This idea is supported by innovative solutions e.g. training modules and didactic materials, that support employees when performing vocational tasks. The introduction of modular packages and curricula and the use of computer – aided training, will give the opportunity to organize training or self-training and acquire skills that will contribute to the availability of training and to increase the competencies of low-skilled workers. Modular training program for specialization in the field of Technology of Interior Drywall Systems is designed for Basic Vocational School, within which objectives and teaching materials are linked with work processes and occupational activities. Modular training program for a specific occupation consists of “modules of professional learning outcomes” and corresponding “modular units” which are designed on the basis of certain criteria referring to knowledge, skills and competences within a profession.
Modular Training Programme for Technology of interior drywall systems E-packages for improvement of employees competencies are solutions that make self learning and improving skills easier in the workplace, as well as make possible self-learning of workers in convenient moment of time. In the economy based on knowledge and innovation the value of the company is directly related to and dependent on knowledge and intellectual capital. Multimedia versions of e-learning trainings are the solutions which facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and self-development skills. They enable ongoing assessment of progress in the development of professional skills as well as the assessment of acquired knowledge - the final outcome. Presented e-programme is based on National Vocational Qualification Standards and applies the strategy of self-assessing of professional skills. The target group is composed of people with special educational needs, low-skilled workers who would like to gain new skills in the construction industry, especially in the field of Drywall Installers. The result of the project will include the educational e-package adjusted to the needs of IT environment and to different training forms, especially to nonformal and informal ways. E-packages are available in four language versions: Polish version English version Italian version Romanian version The European Credit system for Vocational Education and Training (ECVET) is a European system of accumulation and transfer of credits designed for vocational education and training in Europe. It enables the attesting and recording of the learning achievement /learning outcomes of an individual engaged in a learning pathway leading to a qualification, a vocational diploma or certificate. ECVET is linked to national education and training systems and to European tools for mobility and transparency such as the European qualifications framework (EQF). It enables the documentation, validation and recognition of achieved learning outcomes acquired abroad, in both formal VET or in non-formal contexts. It is centred on the individual, based on the validation and the accumulation of his/her learning outcomes, defined in terms of the knowledge, skills and competences necessary for achieving a qualification. The main objectives of the SkillsUp project were concentrated on transfer of innovation in the field of development of the procedural solutions of validation and certification of employees’ competencies and transfer of learning outcomes with the use of ECVET rules. The final result of the project includes the educational e-package adjusted to the needs of IT environment and to different training forms, especially to nonformal and informal ways. Moreover, its functioning will be tested by selected activities (vocational competencies) among workers who perform montage of gypsum products, apply new gypsum systems and products and among workers who prefer self-learning. Acquired competencies will be validated and certificated based on solutions related to the ECVET system experiences. Main goals will be accomplished by achieving intermediate objectives such as identification of principles of transfer and recognition of learning outcomes, with the use of ECVET points concept. Below there is draft proposition of the SkillsUp project ECVET unit descriptions prepared for four units of learning outcomes:
ECVET_ recommendation ECVET leaflet The VCC Institute conducts research and development activities focused on vocational education and the formal confirmation of vocational competences. The VCC Institute offers the VCC Certification process, which is a uniform system for confirming vocational qualifications. This system makes it possible to compare qualifications obtained in different times, places, and manners and adjust them to the needs of the labour market. This system can increase workforce mobility and promote life-long learning. To obtain the New Competences VCC Certificate, participants need to pass an exam which covers the following competences: theoretical professional competences; practical professional competences; linguistic competences and computer science competences. The New Competences VCC Certificate shows that the defined profession can be practised. The amount, in percentage, that each competence is incorporated into the exam depends on the profession specification and is defined in the Profession description. Marks for each competence are indicated as a percentage value and arithmetic average. These marks determine the final mark on the certificate. A supplement is given as an annex to the certificate. It shows the particular results achieved in the different fields of competences, with the highlighted domains that were included in the exam. The supplement is particularly important for an employer, as analysis of the supplement can show the background of the jobseeker’s competences to work at a specific post. This system makes it possible to compare qualifications of Drywall Fitters obtained in different times, places, and manners and adjust them to the needs of the labour market. This system can increase workforce mobility and promote life-long learning. It is available: http://www.vcci.pl/en/nc-occupations-and-its-descriptions.html According to the changes taking place in the vocational education and training system, SlillsUp project proposed new tools in the form of an e-book. Information technologies are already widely used in professional education of youth and adults. New technologies are commonly used and therefore, it was reasonable to develop an electronic version of textbooks. In the Skillsup project there were prepared three versions of e-book: Polish, English and Romanian. ebook - Technology of Drywall Systems One of the basic objectives of the Leonardo da Vinci programme included: the application of ICT, i.e. information and communication technologies, improved quality of vocational education and training as well as adjustment of the education system to the labour market requirements. In the SkillsUp project, those objectives were oriented towards transfer of innovative curriculum and IT solutions directed to low-skilled persons within the scope of installing interior drywall systems. The partnership was promoting innovative ways of vocational education and training, concentrating on increased efficiency and attractiveness of teaching methods as well as on bringing learning outcomes closer to the labour market needs and requirements. The problems solved within the SkillsUp project concentrate on bonds between the labour market needs and vocational education and training of low-skilled persons or workers with no qualifications. Development of the interactive course to improve employees` competences within the Technology of interior drywall systems was the basic aspect of the project execution/ accomplishment. The Introduction of the modular curriculum and educational packages developed in four language versions as well as application of computer aided training (training supported by computers) allow for proper organisation of training or self-training and acquisition of skills. Multimedia e-learning training packages constitute the solution facilitating independent acquisition of knowledge and skills formation. E-packages are interactive courses improving employees` competences, which enable selflearning and skill improvement in a convenient place and time. The pilotage implementation involved deliberately selected representatives of institutions educating and training in the Drywall Installer occupation, including the unemployed, students and teaching staff, altogether more than 100 participants in Poland, Romania and Italy. The obtained research results and opinions of potential receivers confirmed the educational usefulness and validity of the SkillsUp project-developed educational e-package, (which was) used in vocational education and training of Drywall Installers. The SkillsUp project was directed to a special target group of beneficiaries: people with special educational needs who want to acquire new skills or improve their qualifications in the construction industry in the Drywall Installer specialisation. This is why, one of the main project objectives was activation of lowskilled persons. Thus, the assumption constituted the development of methods of recognising informal learning or non-formal education learning outcomes of low-skilled persons. Those objectives were supported by accomplishment of intermediate objectives, i.e. identification of employees` competence gaps. The research into educational needs took place with the use of the software developed by ITeE-PIB named “System of monitoring and evaluation of employees` competences.” The qualitative data obtained as a research result were applied to the preparation of a description concerning professional competence profile for the "Drywall Installer" occupation. It was placed in the database www.diagnozowaniekompetencji.pl in four language versions (PL/ENG/RO/IT). The results of the conducted research are presented in the international reports concerning the identification of qualification requirements for the Drywall Installer occupation. Results from pilot implementation of the e-packaes and from the research aimed at identification of minimum qualification requirements within the scope of “Drywall installer” occupation, dedicated especially to education and training low-skilled persons within non-formal education and informal learning are presented in two international reports published in the scientific monographic series: „System wsparcia uczenia się pozaformalnego i nieformalnego osób o niskich kwalifikacjach” and „Supporting system for nonformal and informal learning for low-skilled workers”. „Supporting system for nonformal and informal learning for low-skilled workers” |
